Sew Turtles Diane Randgaard and Linda Antonioli pose with Bridget Pendarvis, and pups Carmen and Spring during a reunion in Fort Myers, FL, June 2014. Everyone's smiling except for Spring - the photo pressure was just too much for her!

Nevis, West Indies

Picture
Picture
David Godfrey, Sea Turtle Conservancy's Executive Director, wore his Lisa's Fundana during Tour de Turtles in Nevis, West Indies, July 2014. Tour de Turtles follows the marathon migration of different sea turtle species from their nesting beaches to their foraging grounds. It's a fun way to gather important migration information that can help STC better understand and protect sea turtles.
Dan Evans shows his Fundana spirit while he preps a radio transmitter on a "scientist" sea turtle as a part of Tour de Turtles in Nevis, West Indies, July 2014. Dan Evans is Sea Turtle Conservancy's Technology & Research Specialist and Sea Turtle Grants Program Administrator, so in his job he wears a lot of hats AND a Fundana!

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Picture
Lucas, Executive Director for the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition (BRYC), shared a photo from Baton Rouge, LA, in June 2014.  Louisiana is a new state in our Fundana photo collection!  Thank you, Becca Gelwicks, for giving this Fundana as a gift.  Thank you, Lucas, for catching the Fundana spirit!

  Bonita Springs, Florida

Picture
Lisa's family came together in Bonita Springs, FL, in June 2014, to celebrate her spirited life.  We visited nature preserves and beaches that were special to Lisa.  We were fortunate to see a lot of loggerhead sea turtle nests marked on the beaches we visited.

Perth, Ontario, Canada

This tiny turtle showed up at Heather Elliott and Fred Ingram's back door in Perth, Ontario, Canada on Thursday, in May 2014.  He's barely bigger than the sea turtle bead on a Fundana - what a cutie patootie!

Thakadu Lodge, South Africa

Picture
Sue Craig smiles in a Fundana safari pic from her recent trip to South Africa in April 2014.  Sue took her Fundana to Thakadu Lodge on the Madikwe Game Reserve eight miles from the Botswana border. While on this photo safari, Sue snapped thousands of pictures. Sue, were you able to get a Fundana on a lion for a quick pic??

The Metropolitan Museum of Art,
New York, New York

Picture
David Flash rocks his Lisa's Fundana in front of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, NY - the Big Apple! We couldn't help but notice the range of talent being celebrated inside: an exhibit of early Martin guitars alongside the immortal work of Early Renaissance painter Piero Della Francesca and "the passions" of 19th-century sculptor Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux. Thanks, David, for bringing some NYC culture to Lisa's Fundanas Project!

St. Paul, Minnesota

Green Bank, West Virginia

Picture
Inspired to add another state to our Fundana photo collection, Kim Harrell traveled to The National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, West Virginia in March 2014.  This facility operates the world's largest radio telescope.  The telescope sits near the heart of the United States National Radio Quiet Zone, a large area where all radio transmissions are limited to avoid emissions toward the Green Bank Telescope.

Weatherford, Texas

Picture
In the Wild West World of Weatherford Texas, Kyron and Brennen Gooslby (and their granny, Jackie) keep a watchful eye out for ANY turtles that are in need of a rescue – be they of the land, sea, or the snapping variety.   They have designated their neck of the woods as a Turtle Safe Harbor spot!  Of course, they are willing to catch bugs as turtle snack food.  March 2014.

Santa Monica, California

Picture
Linda & Carmen Antonioli pose in their Lisa's Fundanas with Younger/Older Andy Warhol creations done by Kazu.  These lifelike enlargements of pop icon and artist Andy Warhol are now on their way to the home of Nike's president and CEO, an avid collector of all things lowbrow cool.  These figures are so realistic, Linda is quite sure that younger Andy playfully winked at her after this picture was taken in March 2014.

Freshwater Beach, Australia

Picture
Family friends Heather and Rick Karl enjoy a picture perfect setting at Freshwater Beach, Australia, March 2014.  The official beginning of surfboard riding in Australia occurred at Freshwater Beach in 1915 when the famous Hawaiian swimmer and surfer Duke Kahanamoku gave a demonstration of his board riding skills to thousands of spectators.

Picture
Jessica Bernardi takes a dinosaur out for a spin in Bend, Oregon, March 2014.  Sea turtles have been around for 110  million years, since the time of the dinosaurs, so it makes perfect sense that this dinosaur would honor sea turtles with his stylish Fundana.

Watertown, New York

Picture
Fred Ingram brings his Fundana to the state of New York! Dr. David Plante and Dr.Teresa Dewey, veterinarians and owners of North Country Animal Health Center, welcomed Fred and Heather Elliott to Watertown, NY. Victor, Idaho

Picture
Jessica Rodin knows there are two things you have to get while visiting Idaho -- Idaho potatoes AND a huckleberry milkshake from Victor Emporium in Victor, ID. For over 50 years, Victor Emporium has served their world famous huckleberry milkshakes to everyone from infamous locals to world leaders.  March 2014.

Bismarck, North Dakota

Picture

Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Picture
Kim Harrell took her Fundana to a most appropriate location in March 2014 -- the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia, just south of the mouth of Chesapeake Bay. The Virginia Aquarium participates in several sea turtle research programs, and they have a turtle and marine mammal Stranding Response Team.  Kim watched the release of a rehabilitated loggerhead sea turtle there a few years ago.  She "adopted" him and followed his radio tracking information for months!
Picture
While Kim Harrell was visiting the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center in March 2014, it was nice and quiet, so she sat on the bench at the exhibit and sketched  some sea turtles for us! Kim used photos she took of Virginia Aquarium's exhibits so she could paint them when she illustrated a sea turtle article for Chesapeake Bay Magazine.

Winslow, Arizona

Picture
Well, I'm a standing on a corner
in Winslow, Arizona

Ford slowin' down to take a look at me
[it's a good thing I'm wearing my Fundana]
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
we will never be here again
so open up, I'm climbin' in,
so take it easy

Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Iceland

Picture
Heather Elliott and Fred Ingram took their Fundanas to TWO PLACES AT ONCE while visiting Iceland in August 2013. They are standing exactly where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. Iceland exists because of a large volcanic hotspot created by a fissure where these two plates meet, and these plates are moving apart an average of a few inches per year.  Lisa would think this is VERY COOL, so it's such a fitting way to honor her.

Fort Myers, Florida

Picture
IT'S SPRING!  Not the season, but the cute little dog!  Bridget Pendarvis needed dog cookies and a lot of patience to capture this shot of little Spring in Fort Myers, FL, August 2013.
